It’s Time to Shift Your Mindset, B****

6 Tips for Developing a Winner’s Mindset to Crush Your Goals

Now that I have your attention, I mean b**** in the most endearing way ever. 😊

If you’ve been following me for some time now, you know that I’m all about execution.

But there’s no execution without having a winner’s mindset!

Sidebar: I was recently asked what’s my zodiac sign.

It’s an Aries, by the way.

While I might be a textbook Aries (confident, business-minded, and strong-willed), I believe that the meteoric rise of my brand, Glam Seamless, was due to my winner’s mindset.

And umm, yeah, I had no choice but to win. Student loans were cramping my style and left little room for the important things in life like hair extensions- Hence the birth of my baby, Glam Seamless. (More on that later.)

Possessing a winner’s mindset is often clouded by having low self-esteem, a self-deprecating attitude, and self-sabotage.

Combine all of these three, and it’s a “Why Me?” Fest!

Stop that right now!

If you’re thinking, “Alexandra, please help.”

I’m right here as your Fairy Godmother, nudging you towards your entrepreneurial goals, starting with your mindset.

Here are 6 Mindset Shift Tips to Get You out of Your Own Way:

Speak Kindly to Yourself:

If you have to say “Yass, b*tch” in the mirror at least 100 times, do it. Hype yourself up! Got a new matte lipstick? Pout your lips. Got new Glam Seamless extensions? Flip them tresses, girl. ‘

Ever seen a sad cheerleader? Me neither. Whatever she does to prepare herself to hit that football field, definitely works. Create your own ritual or habit to help you get your head in the game.

Recite positive affirmations to yourself, starting with “I am.”

I am a self-made boss babe.

I am on the Forbes’ 30 Under 30 List.

I am the go-to Yoga Instructor in my city.

Find your I Am’s and repeat them regularly.

Seek Counseling or Life Coaching:

While not mutually exclusive, only you know which will serve you the best.

If you have a history of self-sabotage, perhaps you need a professional mental health professional to help you work through the origin of this behavioral trait.

Life coaches help you to amplify your life, set actionable goals, and hold you accountable when you’re not meeting your goals.

Do your homework in choosing a life coach or a counselor.

Change Your Circle:

Singing…… What about your friends? (TLC voice). I’m not telling you to drop them.

Actually, it’s not uncommon to have different groups of friends— one for play and one to help you get paid.

Personally, not all my friends are entrepreneurs (and that’s okay). I get what I need from them: real sisterhood and support.

Now, my entrepreneur friends, keep me in the loop about business opportunities and how I can expand my empire. They understand the ebbs and flows of running a business. The late-night and early mornings.

Get a Mentor or a Business Coach:

This is truly a game-changer for a lot of entrepreneurs.

A Business Coach helps you to figure out if your business idea is viable and outlines strategies and actions you need to take to reach your goals.

A mentor is someone in your profession or line of business who’s been where you are and is currently where you want to be.

You can hire both. There are no rules. Just make sure you find reputable professionals with receipts a.k.a testimonials from people they’ve helped.

Read Self-Help Books

I get it. Some of these self-help books are Flower Childish and an Emo Fest; however, there are ones to fit all personalities.

Here are some self-help books that possibly won’t make you cringe:

  • The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by Mark Manson.  Mark takes a more in-your-face approach to handling life. No turning lemons into margaritas. He wants all the smoke.
  • You Are a Badass Every Day by Jen Sincero. There’s an entire “You are a Bad Ass” series for everything from self-improvement and motivation to making the type of money you deserve. Jen speaks to you like she’s one of your girlfriends—and there’s lies one of the reasons she has a cult following now.
  • F—k Your Feelings by Ryan Munsey.  So, you want to be in business? Get ready to get your feelings hurt, constantly. Ryan gives us the tools to help us “control” our feelings and to do the work, either in our lives or businesses.

Get Out of Your Comfort Zone:

Do something you normally wouldn’t do. Before you look for Skydiving schools, perhaps do something a little less adventurous for the time being.

In this digital age, some entrepreneurs like to hide behind their laptops. However, more visibility might help you expand your brand.

Practice public speaking. Why not “Go Live” on Facebook, Instagram, or LinkedIn? Also, the hot new social media platform, Clubhouse, which uses audio to connect, provides a great way to perfect your business pitch and your public speaking.

Shifting your mindset takes practice. Neither one social media caption nor blog post can get you to fully change your mindset—although it might be a catalyst, a winner’s mindset is a “muscle” you have to use every day.

While you’re preparing to take the entrepreneurial plunge or perhaps, you’re already there, what are doing to keep your winner’s mindset intact?
